Rowan Thambar is a nationally touring comedian, television writer, producer and performer whose work spans live comedy, broadcast television, radio and branded content.

Known for his friendly, story-driven style - Rowan has spent the past decade building a reputation as one of Australia's most thoughtful and distinctive comedic voices. His comedy blends sharp joke writing with honest storytelling, turning everyday moments in modern life into shows that leave audiences laughing long after they've left the theatre.

In 2017, Rowan was nominated for Best Comedy at the Melbourne Fringe Festival before being selected for the prestigious Comedy Zone showcase at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2018, a program that highlights Australia's most promising emerging comedians.

In 2025, Rowan released his first stand-up special, Small Talk, on YouTube and made his debut on the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow. The following year he returned as a featured headliner on the Roadshow, performing throughout regional Australia, and made his Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala debut at the Asian All Star Gala, filmed for SBS.

Since then, Rowan has created and toured multiple solo shows across Australian. In 2026, he embarked on his first national tour, taking his show Sorry For The Late Reply to Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Brisbane and Sydney. He has sold out shows across the country and regularly headlines comedy clubs throughout Australia.

Alongside his stand-up career, Rowan spent three years at Channel 10'sThe Project, working first as a comedy writer before taking on the fancy new title of comedy producer. During his time on the program he contributed jokes, sketches and comedy content across hundreds of episodes, helping shape one of Australia's most-watched nightly television shows. He has also worked behind the scenes on acclaimed ABC programs including Question Everything and Claire Hooper's House of Games.

Rowan is a regular guest on ABC Radio National'sTGIF with Charlie Pickering and has been featured by The Guardian, The Today Show, ABC Radio Sydney, ABC Radio Melbourne, ABC Radio Darwin, Triple R's Smart Arts, Domain and the Newcastle Herald. His stand-up clips have attracted hundreds of thousands of views online, including a viral routine examining the cultural legacy of LMFAO.

As a writer, Rowan has worked across television, live performance and advertising. In 2026, work he contributed to XXXX's national advertising campaign, bringing his distinctive comedic voice to one of Australia's most recognisable beer brands.
